Footed Bowl in Ash

Found in Accoya, Norfolk

These bowls are turned and hand carved from one piece of ash wood, which then undergoes a Japanese process of charring with fire, Shou Sugi Ban. This enhances the grain pattern beautifully and makes for a dramatic transformation. Available in 2 sizes; medium with 3 feet and large with 5 feet.

Maker, AlexThe maker
Alex of Studio Arbor is based in Devon, and works out of an old watermill a stone’s throw from the river Exe. He combines traditional and modern craft techniques with contemporary sensibilities to make sculptural homewares grounded in function, with attention to detail, form, and texture. Timbers are sourced from local arborists and sustainably managed estate woodlands, often in small batches using timber that naturally becomes available.
