Space & setting.

It’ll come as no surprise that the owner of this gorgeous little hideaway is a lifestyle photographer. Nor that she’s half Danish. Her Victorian cottage absolutely radiates style and hygge, all cosy corners, woollen blankets and liberal use of Farrow & Ball’s Stiffkey Blue (fun fact: the paint’s hue was inspired by a North Norfolk beach). The bedroom is particularly beautiful – papered with a dramatic William Morris print – and vintage rugs and sheepskins warm the floors. It may be a small house, but every corner is filled with personality and quirk. She and her English partner live abroad and this is their home when they’re in the UK – they’ll share all their local tips with you. Magical beach walks, secret cafes, and the recommendation that when it’s super-hot you just chill out in the garden, shaded by the apple tree. Sounds good to us.

Owners of Castle Acre Cottage

Owners Anna and Tom bought the cottage – and puppy! – pretty swiftly after they met in London. Tom was brought up in this area, left when he was 17 and swore he’d never return… fast forward 20 years and here he is, with his very own country cottage, five minutes’ walks from his mum’s house.

My Kip favourites

She loves
“In the winter: sitting with a good book and lots of blankets by the fire. In the summer: having a BBQ in the back garden.”

We love
The cottage is full of Anna and Tom’s favourite reads; books, cookbooks, magazines. Curl up in one of the oversize armchairs and have a read.

You may not love
A 3-night min stay. You need a car to get here and explore. Heating is via the multi-fuel burner only. No dishwasher or TV.

  • "Nestled in the most idyllic part of Norfolk, Anna and Tom’s cottage is an incredibly special place to spend a long weekend. The care, information and communication from Anna really enhanced our stay, everything has been considered and there are so many lovely little touches throughout. We would so love to return."

  • "We had such a lovely stay at the cottage; it is so sweet, private and beautifully furnished. Anna & Tom have thought of everything, especially in the kitchen. I loved sitting in the sunshine with a cup of tea by the front door with a view of the green. The local suggestions were all fab, the beach at Holkham is extraordinary and I loved the nursery at West Acre."

  • "We had a really enjoyable stay at Anna's lovely home in Castle Acre. We were so sad to leave. It was just so idyllic...we went for riverside walks twice a day with our gorgeous pup Gino & a stop off at the Ostrich for a nightcap ..the surrounding area was wonderful & the coast was a nice drive out too. The cottage was perfect, comfortable bed, clean & cosy. A Very Satisfied Customer" Sally, Paul & Gino

  • "If you are looking for a painstakingly gorgeous, idyllic and cosy cottage in the Norfolk countryside, Anna & Tom’s Castle Acre abode should be your very first choice. The first thing you notice is the utterly divine, envy-inducing decor that fills every nook and cranny. The small details win you over as you discover them inch by inch, room by room. But it isn’t just at surface level that you’ll fall head over heels for this little slice of cottage heaven. The shower and bath has a rustic, understated luxury to it; the bed is like snuggling up in a warm cloud; the kitchen is well stocked - the delicious homemade granola is a true winner - and the living room epitomises the famous Hygge concept with its candles, wood burner and wool rugs. An added bonus was the excellent recommendations they provided for local and further afield attractions, pubs, walks and more! Tremendously enjoyed our stay and only wish we could’ve stayed a little longer!"

  • "This cottage surpassed our expectations in every way. As lovers of interior design, we were delighted to be surrounded by Anna's carefully chosen pieces and personal treasures. We left feeling calm, rested and inspired and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it anyone seeking a few peaceful days in the countryside."
