Space & setting.

The Meon Valley is home to some of Hampshire’s prettiest villages, all olde thatched cottages and wisteria-clad houses. Circled by countryside, walks and bike rides meander along the River Meon and over golden fields to join the South Downs Way. There are gastro pubs a’plenty, and artisan village stores selling local Exton fizz. It’s a peaceful, under-the-radar area, a slice of perfection.

These vintage-chic cabins hide in the heart of the valley, part of a glampsite spread across a 2500-acre farm. An ode to sustainability, they were handcrafted from reclaimed cedar by their clever owner, and solar energy powers their electricity and hot water. Interiors are beautifully pared-back — soft neutral colours, natural materials — which allow the views centre stage, and each sits in its own field, allowing for total privacy. Lie in bed and watch wild hares leap across the field as the sun comes up, then breakfast outside to a serenade of birdsong. With no WiFi and no neighbours, being here is a total escape.

Getting here: drive, or train to Petersfield then taxi (10 mins)

“I grew up on this farm, and returned here 10 years ago to start my own glamping and camping business. I started renovating and refurbishing vehicles to add to the glamping collection, before starting to build mobile cabins, too, made from reclaimed materials. These were some of my first creations.” Owners Jack and Emily

We love
“The views from the bed; keep the blinds open and fall asleep gazing at the stars – this is a Dark Sky area.”

A 3-night minimum stay over weekends May-Sept. The solar-powered electricity can be temperamental in bad weather.

  • "What a wonderful place! We spent a couple of nights at the Woodlands cabin in Cedar Valley and it was absolute bliss! Although we had a tech issue with the booking, meaning we stayed at Woodlands instead of Cedars, it was all for the best as the view from Woodlands was incredible and unbeatable (we got to the sunset side!). The bed was super comfy and the cabin has everything you need - including an outdoor bath! We really felt we were out in the middle of nowhere on our own and loved exploring the area. Cannot wait to go back!"

  • "We had the best time here, was so sad to leave. The cabin is so comfy and stylish, everything you could want and a view that never gets old. Will be back again and again and again and again. Could not rate this place higher!"

  • Or cycle the Meon Valley Trail, an 11-mile route along a disused railway track.
