“We both grew up in Scotland, before moving abroad. About 6 years ago we felt the pull to come home – to raise our children in the countryside on a farm, much as we had been brought up ourselves. When we arrived at Drumtennant, we moved into the cottage first. Before settling in, we took it right back to its stone walls and completely reworked the space. We opened it up for modern living, and rebuilt it carefully so it would be comfortable, practical, and built to last. Then we embarked on the farmhouse next door, where we live with our 4 kids. When people come to visit our hope is not simply to offer accommodation, but to give a small slice of the life we feel fortunate to live here: open space, changing seasons, the rhythm of the farm and a place that feels quiet and wild, yet accessible.” Owners Jake and Rose
They love
“Seeing wildlife every day.”
We love
The location. You’re ideally placed to explore the Highlands on day trips, then return here, where it feels secluded, remote and unbelievably peaceful.

Rates don’t include a cleaning fee – see FAQ. There’s only 1 double bed, the other 5 are singles. The track from the main road is bumpy in places, not ideal for low sports cars.
Sustainability.
The owners have planted 90,000 trees and 2.5km of hedgerows on the land and farm in a very sustainable way. Some solar power. Full recycling.
Surrounds.
- Explore Dunkeld. Pop into the cathedral and mooch around independent shops – try Blue Magpie for gifts and Lon for fancy pantry staples. Children will love the super-cute Toy Shed, run by the cottage owner Rose.
- Go for pizza and pints at The Taybank, plus live traditional music on Thursday nights.
- Hire road bikes (electric if you fancy a boost) in Dunkeld; the lanes are peaceful and wildly scenic. For mountain bikers, the climb up to Loch Ordie is worth every punishing pedal.
- You’re near some classic Highland hikes. Head towards Pitlochry for forest trails and big views from Ben Vrackie, or bag a munro — Carn Liath (Beinn a’ Ghlo) is a popular one.
- Explore Perthshire: waterfalls at The Hermitage, salmon leaping at the falls of Bruar, long woodland walks and small villages that feel lost in time.
- Day trip to Cairngorms National Park, with its otherworldly landscapes and wild reindeer.
