“We are both from Swansea, and after living and working in London, we decided to move back here to settle down. It took a few years to find the right property, but when we came to see Jacob Cottage, we fell in love with its charm and location in the woods. Planning its renovation, we decided to add a cabin annexe so we could share the space with guests, too. We love the outdoors, so a big focus for us was creating a beautiful outdoor space that guests can enjoy in all weathers. We have thoughtfully selected every piece that is in the cabin – from the sheepskins and antlers, to the art and furniture. We hope you love it as much as we do.” Owner, Lara

Sustainability.
The cottage runs off renewables – the central heating is from a biomass boiler and hot water from a solar-thermal panel. Most firewood comes from deceased trees in the surrounding woods. Refillable Faith-in-Nature toiletries.
Surrounds.
- Walk to the stunning Three Cliffs Bay, an award-winning beach backed by sand dunes and salt marshes.
- Pick up morning pastries at Little Valley Bakery just through the woods, then breakfast alfresco.
- Go for a dip at Oxwich Bay, a long sweep of golden beach, then warm up in the woodfired sauna at Ty Sawna.
- The Gower was the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK. Take it all in from Rhossilli Bay, a 3-mile sandy beach at the very tip of the peninsula, where you can walk along the headland, see a shipwreck at low tide and spot seals on Worms Head.
- Head to Pennard Castle at sunset with a beer and watch the sun set over the valley and beach beyond.
- Join botanical artist Stacey Keay from ‘We Are Woven’ in her gorgeous greenhouse studio for an immersive botanical art workshop.
- Walk from the cabin through Parkwood and up over Cefn Bryn for spectacular views across the Gower Peninsula. Call into The King Arthur pub in the village of Reynoldston for a pint of local ale and some hearty home-cooked food.
- Wander through the village of Mumbles and along the seafront promenade, pick up an ice cream from Verdis and then choose some foodie bits in the local deli Olives and Oils and fresh fish from Coakleys fishmongers. The pier is also a lush spot for fish and chips, as is The Seafood Hut.
- Rent paddleboards at Oxwich or surfboards at Caswell Bay and have some fun in the sea!
