Cottesbrooke village is almost unreal; an idyllic estate of honey-stone cottages, protected parkland, no through traffic and the sort of calm you didn’t think existed in modern life. It’s a place for long walks through beautiful countryside and ancient woodlands, and slow days where it’s all about who you’re with rather then what the plan is. Figgy and Wren are a pair of adjoining cottages in this rural haven. There’s one for 4 and one for 6; or book them together for 2 families or a few friends meeting from different corners of the country. For a milestone birthday, perhaps, or simply one of those rare times when diaries align and you want somewhere that feels properly worth it.

Created by an interior designer who believes that luxury should feel joyful not hushed, each is layered with colour, texture and lots of comfort. Big beds and no alarm clocks. Ensuite bathrooms tiled in colourful Ca’ Pietra patterns. Handbuilt kitchens with bright range cookers and a coffee setup that understands mornings. There’s a feeling of being looked after, too: baby kit already here, a dog bowl awaiting your hound, board games for after supper, and a welcome basket of local goodies. If you can bear to break the spell, pile into your car to reach gastro pubs, farm shops and lake-based activities nearby.

Getting here: drive, or train to Market Harborough or Northampton then taxi (15 mins)

Stephanie-Figgy-Cottage

“The cottages were created to offer a truly refined, boutique-style retreat in a beautiful rural setting. As an interior designer, I saw the potential to transform what had been traditional rental properties for decades into something far more considered and special. Each cottage underwent a complete and meticulous renovation, with every element thoughtfully redesigned rather than simply updated.” Owner, Stephanie

My Kip favourites

She loves
“The peace and tranquility of the historic Cottesbrooke Estate. Surrounded by parkland and nature, the gorgeous open views change with the seasons. It’s a place where time naturally slows.”

We love
The wider location; just an hour from London, and close to loads of major road networks and 2 mainline train stations it’s ideal for family and friend meet-ups and weekend breaks.

You may not love
No pub in the village – but that’s why it’s so blissfully quiet. None of the beds in Figgy can be twinned.

  • "A blissful stay at Figgy Cottage! It truly feels like a home from home, beautiful interiors, thoughtful touches and a lovely welcome package on arrival. Stephanie was the perfect host, offering local recommendations for cafes, restaurants, farm shops and days out. Our ‘check in’ couldn’t have been easier as was our leaving day. The beds were all super comfy, the showers hot and the cottage had great heating which meant it was always lovely and warm. We loved the log fire in the living room. The kitchen was well equipped and all appliances were easy to use. In fact our stay at Figgy Cottage was so lovey we extended our trip whilst there. We really do hope to visit again."

  • "Fab-u-Lou’s. One of the best cottage’s we have stayed in. A real quality accommodation. Stephanie certainly goes the extra mile and nothing is too much trouble."
