Tucked away in the countryside near Bath, this is a sanctuary for calm-seekers. Set across 10 acres of award-winning gardens, wildflower meadows and ancient woodland, a peaceful estate offers a mix of romantic places to stay — from a 17thC byre to cosy, hand-built shepherd’s huts — all designed to immerse you in nature, without sacrificing style. Each has its own USP: choose The Byre for Cotswolds stone walls and a rolltop bath;  The Stables for original beams and a contemporary finish (plus it’s right beside the cafe and lifestyle store). The Cottage has a flower-filled garden and four-poster bed, and if you want to truly embrace the outdoors, 2 bespoke shepherd huts promise rustic luxury: oak craftsmanship, woodburning stoves, and big views.

The owners live on-site and you’re welcome to swim in their outdoor pool, or book a slot in the wood-burning sauna and cold-dip pool for a pure chill out. Day trips are easy if you can tear yourself away — medieval Lacock, the Cotswold, Bath, Bristol — but this is primarily a place to recharge and spend time together, in the most peaceful and beautiful of settings. And if you’re looking for a truly special place for a group booking or to hold a retreat…

Getting here: drive, or train to Chippenham then taxi (12 mins)

We moved from a vibrant city 3 years ago as a family of 5 in the search of the perfect balance between a Cotswold quiet life and creating a haven of wellness and hub for the community. The previous owners had already given the estate 20 years of love and we were handed the gauntlet to transform it to its new glory and convert each building into a juxtaposition of period charm meets modern chic.” Owner, Liz

She loves
“It’s the ‘good life’ personified with every day bringing a new surprise and personality of the farm to us.”

We love
The gorgeous little on-site coffee shop: perfect flat whites, homemade treats and the loveliest morning vibe.

  • Westonbirt Arboretum
    Westonbirt Arboretum
  • Roam the estate’s formal gardens, vast fields and ancient woodlands.
  • Book the sauna and cold-water pool for a private wellness session
  • Wander to The Langley in the village; a trad pub with roaring fires and a great gastro menu.
  • Bring bikes and cycle to lovely Malmesbury, which has an old Abbey and great independent shops (stop for artisan pizza at The Birdcage, or go for a Sunday Roast at the nearby Potting Shed). Also cycleable, Castle Combe is an idyllic Cotswolds stone village dating back to the 14thC.
  • You’ll likely recognise Lacock, whose timber-framed houses have graced many a filmset. Admire this village’s abbey too; its cloisters were a setting for the Harry Potter movies. There’s a great ice cream shop on the high street, and you can swim in the nearby river.
  • Take the kids to Bowood: a historic estate with stunning gardens, an amazing playground, and a landscape garden designed by Capability Brown
  • We love Westonbirt Arboretum, with its 2500 species of trees from around the globe. Come in autumn for a vibrant spectacle, or time your trip with a summer gig or the winter lights festival.
  • Tetbury is a great day out, full of fabulous antique shops. Don’t miss Artique for Moroccan rugs and furniture.
  • The city of Bath is around 25 mins’ drive: beautiful Georgian architecture, the famous Roman baths, and excellent high street shopping.
  • Bristol (even better, though we are biased) is around 40 mins’ drive. Come for a creative vibe, street art (including original Banksys, this was his home town), the lovely waterfront and the annual hot-air balloon festival.
