Space & setting.

Buckle up and set your sights on your wildest horizon; home is wherever you park it with these luxury hideaways on wheels, and the Scottish landscape (and beyond) is your oyster. Artfully blending off-grid escapism with sheer comfort, the bespoke Mercedes Sprinters are not your average van. With parquet flooring, Shaker cabinets, a full-size bed and sweet little bathroom, each feels more like a nomadic cottage than a camper. And you can forget about commercial campsites; being fully off-grid gives you the freedom to venture off-the-beaten-track and wake up to an ever-changing view of misty lochs, rugged mountains and wide open skies.

Head north from the pick-up point through heather-clad moorland to Loch Lomond, the Cairngorms and way up to the wild Highlands, or cross the border to explore the peaks, lakes and moors of England’s most iconic national parks. Let curiosity be your guide, stopping off wherever takes your fancy to swim, fish or hike; you’ve got Yeti coolers and picnic gear for romantic alfresco feasts along the way. Wherever you end up by nightfall, make it an evening ritual to light a fire, lie back under a star-studded sky and soak up the day’s adventures.

Getting here: pickup is in Peeblesshire or request pick-up and drop-off at other airports/train station for an additional cost

“I spent a decade working in the City of London before realising how vital the natural world is to our wellbeing, after which I relocated my young family to rural Scotland and started Wingbeat Escapes in 2023. I wanted to create a company that champions immersive experiences, which allow guests to savour the drama and beauty of the Great British countryside, and in my eyes this is the ultimate travel experience: combining off-grid escapism with absolute luxury.” Owner, Ed

My Kip favourites

He loves
“Waking up right next to a loch, hearing the oyster catchers calling and having my morning coffee in complete tranquility.”

We love
The carefully considered design, making the insides space feel stylish and compact but not too cramped.

You may not love
A 3-night minimum stay. The porta loo might not be to everyone’s taste; all part of the adventure though!

  • "The perfect start to our holiday of a lifetime. Our van was our home away from home as we explored all around Scotland. It was spacious, well-appointed and super comfortable. There is nothing quite like waking up to a view of a castle across the loch. Ed was super helpful and went out of his way to meet us in Edinburgh for the pickup and return. He explained everything simply and clearly, and we had no worries at all our entire trip. Thanks so much for a fantastic adventure."

  • Scotland is home to 2 spectacular national parks; go kayaking on Loch Lomond and horse-riding through the Trossachs, or hike or bike your way through Cairngorms National Park, with its woodland trails and rugged mountain tracks.
  • Follow the famous North Coast 500, a 516-mile route circumnavigating the remote Scottish Highlands, with secluded sandy beaches, dramatic mountains, otherworldly lochs and quaint fishing villages around every turn; it’s one of the world’s most beautiful road trips.

  • Top tip: hire SUPs and changing robes for your adventures, and you can paddle-board and wild swim in every loch, lake and river you see.
