*Brand new*

It’s called Alcoves, which at first feels like a lovely bit of branding, until you step onto the land and realise it’s simply the truth. Scattered across this farm is a centuries-old woodline, stitched with curious, curved bays in the trees; little pockets carved into the landscape, thought to date back to the 17th or 18th century, designed as shelter from the elements. Stand in one and you feel it instantly: the hush, the sense of privacy. No one quite knows why they were planted this way – practicality or poetry – but the effect is the same. Each of the colourful cabins has been quietly slipped into its own alcove, so you’re wrapped in your own nook of birdsong and sky, with nothing but grazing Jersey cows and a wildflower strip for company. It’s rare to find a place where the land itself has already done the design work for you.

The story runs deeper than the trees, though. This is a working family farm, with a Jersey herd that traces back to the owner’s great-grandfather, Lord Ismay, and a landscape shaped and understood over generations. Now, reimagined through an artist’s eye, it’s somewhere you’re invited to share in that country life – mornings outside on the deck (albeit heat-hopping between sauna and hot tub rather than farming), evenings drawing in around the fire. And then, just beyond your pocket of stillness, there’s Broadway – everything you want from a Cotswolds village, all honeyed stone and gentle bustle. Pop there for morning coffee, an afternoon pint or a potter around the shops, then retreat back to your alcove – as if the world has quietly folded in again.

Getting here: drive, or train to Evesham / Moreton / Cheltenham then taxi (15-20 mins)

Alcoves is the vision of husband-and-wife duo Tom and Emma Evetts, blending creative flair with practical know-how. Tom’s family have farmed this land for generations — his father still manages the Jersey herd started in 1930 by Tom’s great grandfather, Lord Ismay, NATO’s first secretary general. Tom’s original artwork features throughout the cabins, inspired by his impressionistic, plein air approach to painting and his fascination with light, colour and the natural world, alongside prints sourced from the UK, France, Italy and Australia. “Painting entirely from life allows the impressions to occur on canvas with greater depth,” says Evetts. “It’s about capturing something real and immediate — and that same philosophy has shaped Alcoves as a place to pause, observe and reconnect.”
My Kip favourites

He loves
“The alcoves themselves, believed to date back to the late 18thC. After research it seems they may be completely unique and were designed to create sheltered, warmer microclimates for resting livestock. Today, these natural alcoves return to their original purpose of providing warmth and growth, offering both privacy and a deep sense of place for the cabins.”

We love
‘The eclectic art, including pieces by Tom. He rotates the collection in each cabin regularly, and some of it is for sale.

You may not love
Bumpy farm track to the cabins (muddy in winter), which won’t suit low-slung cars. Sorry, no pets.

FAQs.

A babe in arms is welcome (please BYO travel cot), but no toddlers or older children.

Unfortunately not as this is a working farm.

In 3.30pm / out 10.30am

Each cabin has a covered hot tub/cold tub bath (Urban Ice Tribe) on its deck. It will be set up as a hot tub but can be changed to an ice tub (takes around 1 hour to cool or heat up.)

The cabins are 100m apart, with the sauna sat in the middle. Each cabin sits in its own private alcove/bay so you can’t see from one alcove and into another. Access is along a path in a narrow wood behind the cabins;  there are no rear windows in the cabins so privacy is maintained.

Unfortunately not. There’s a 2-night min stay.

After you’ve booked your stay with Kip you’ll be sent detailed info on everything so you can book slots before your stay.
