“We first came to Camber on one of our earliest weekends away together, and instantly fell for its huge skies, wild dunes and romantic, slightly cinematic feel. Years later, we’ve created The Dunes as a way of holding onto that feeling – somewhere deeply connected to the sea and beach, where people can gather with friends, walk barefoot back from the beach and feel entirely removed from everyday life.” Owners Dan & Charlie
They love
“There’s something about the atmosphere of the house that’s hard to put into words. It just has an immediate feel-good energy to it. It feels uplifting, easy and comforting all at once.”
We love
The sun-trap garden, with its alfresco shower, such a lovely way to start the day.

Only one bathroom. 2/3-night min stay which rises to 7 during July, Aug and over Christmas. An additional cleaning fee (see FAQ).
Sustainability.
Ground-source air pump providing heating and hot water. Eco cleaning products.
Surrounds.
- Start the day with a sea swim, followed by coffee and toasted banana bread at Leo’s, right on the beach.
- Have sundowners at The Owl, a friendly local 5 mins from the house. Or book an adults-only dinner at The Gallivant.
- Spend an afternoon antique hunting in Rye, especially at Puckhaber Decorative Antiques and Salt & Salvation, where you’ll suddenly convince yourself you have space for a giant mid-century cabinet. (10 mins’ drive or 30-min cycle.)
- Stop by Merchant & Mills for beautifully cut clothing, fabrics and sewing inspiration. Spend an hour in House next door eyeing up linen napkins and enamel lampshades, then have a cocktail at the lovely George in Rye.
- Catch a film at Kino Rye, a tiny independent cinema tucked inside a former Victorian library – perfect on stormy sea days.
- Day trip to Dungeness, the UK’s only desert, strewn with fishermen’s huts, strange garden sculptures and odd collections of driftwood and rusting objects. It feels slightly post-apocalyptic in the best possible way. (20 mins’ drive.)
- Whilst there, grab lunch at Dungeness Snack Shack: the scallop flatbreads at are both incredibly simple and impossible to stop thinking about afterwards.
