*Brand new*

Hidden away in the Cornish countryside, this 17thC hamlet was lovingly brought back to life by a family with a shared vision: of restoring it, then turning it into somewhere truly special. Over 2 years they decorated each of the 12 cottages and larger manor house in a unique, modern style, and every one now feels cosy and deeply characterful. There’s a wonderful sense of creativity throughout – bold design choices, layers of texture and colour – all while honouring the building’s history and quirks. Original details remain proudly on show and are now paired with sink-in sofas, crackling woodburners and beds that all who stay rave about.

The hamlet as a whole now feels like a little village. There’s an outdoor pool surrounded by a wildflower meadow, Shepherd’s Hut saunas (ice-bucket shower optional), and a range of massages and restorative treatments. The Workshop hosts creative classes (oil pastels, lino cutting) and The Studio offers a space for yoga and stretching. If you fancy a change of scene, you’re perfectly placed to explore Polperro’s winding lanes, the turquoise waters of Lantic Bay, and standout food spots in Looe and Fowey. Come alone, bring a partner, or gather friends and take over a few cottages — this is a rare find, and quickly becoming a favourite among those in the know.

Getting here: best to drive, or train to Liskeard then hire a car or taxi (20 mins)

Cottage Orné on Kip Hideaways

“This has been a family venture and a huge passion project, built from a love of beautiful spaces that feel as warm and welcoming as home. When we carried out the renovations, we split the cottages between the 3 of us as we all have such different design taste. This has led to very unique characterful spaces (and a secret competition over which cottage is the most popular!).” Owners India and family

She loves
“There is something so calming about the hamlet. I also love that people can take over a number of cottages and it becomes almost a mini village with all your favourite people around.”

We love
The gorgeous wildflower gardens by Darren Hawkes, which wrap around the pool, Shepherd’s Hut saunas and yoga studio.

You may not love
You’ll want a car to explore the area. Won’t suit those looking for remote seclusion; this has a community feel, with shared facilities.

  • "Couldn’t have asked for more from our stay - we had two beautiful adjoining cottages for the weekend. All interiors are stunning and we received such a warm welcome from Febe and the team. We loved the location and atmosphere. Pool and sauna area is another highlight. Hope to be back soon!"

  • Cottage Orné on Kip Hideaways
  • Head to Lantic Bay for a steep-but-worth-it descent to white sand, clear turquoise water and one of Cornwall’s most impressive cliff-framed beaches (15 mins’ drive).
  • Spend an afternoon in Polperro — a historic fishing village — weaving through its tiny lanes and browsing the independent galleries.
  • Go for brunch at The Story of Emily in St Austell, with its South African-inspired menu (think bobotie, malva pudding, next-level eggs).
  • Hop on the Polruan–Fowey passenger ferry then follow the Hall Walk back — a 4-mile circular route with woodland paths and wide estuary views. Or head inland to the wild beauty of Bodmin Moor.
  • We love The Fish Market in Looe, a relaxed, still-under-the-radar seafood restaurant just 10 minutes away. Expect super-fresh plates like grilled scallops, hake, and whatever came off the boats that morning.
  • Rent a kayak or small boat and paddle upriver from pretty Fowey to Golant, spotting herons, hidden creeks and seals if you’re lucky.
  • Kids will love the Eden Project, a fantastic eco enterprise that’s home to the world’s largest indoor rainforest and a Mediterranean biome.
