Chic 2-bedroom Georgian apartment in lovely Holt, 3 miles from the North Norfolk coast.
Space & setting.
There’s a reason why the Georgian town of Holt so often graces top 10 lists of places to visit, live and shop in the national press–and this townhouse apartment is the best place from which to get to know this North Norfolk gem. Centrally located on the high street, it’s a home from home with divine attention to detail: old barrelled ceilings and wooden floors, objets collected on the interiors stylist owner’s global travels (a selection of which guests can purchase), and modern luxuries like The White Company linens and a Fired Earth bathroom. The master bedroom houses a four-poster bed of our period-conversion dreams and there’s a beautiful front-facing second bedroom (twin or superking).
You’re on the top floor of the building, overlooking the bustling high street, which is lined with great independents. From delis and cafes to fishmongers, butchers, bakeries and antique shops, you can explore for hours. If you’ve a car, zip 3 miles to the coast for a walk up to Blakeney Point or a bracing swim in the North Sea.
Getting here: it’s easiest to drive but you could train to Sheringham then taxi or ask for a pick-up (15 mins)

Surrounds.
- Holt is 3 miles from the stunning North Norfolk coast. Keen walkers can hike up to Blakeney Point from Cley to experience one of the last true wildernesses in the UK, complete with a resident colony of seals.
- Jump on the steam train from Holt and chug through the countryside past traditional flint villages and out to the coastal town of Sheringham.
- For potted family fun, go crabbing at Blakeney quay. Or just buy a delicious dressed Cromer crab from the fishermen for lunch!
- Norfolk has the greatest concentration of medieval churches in the world. Our top 5 are in the nearby Glaven Valley – Blakeney, as impressive as any city church; Wiveton, with its mooring rope marks clearly carved into the walls; cathedral-like Cley; idyllic Glandford; and round-tower Letheringsett. You can easily visit them all in a day.
- The Coastal Exploration company can take you out on a traditional wood sailing vessel to explore the beautiful saltmarsh habitat off-shore and open water.
- Ex-BBC cameraman Martin Hayward Smith runs brilliant Landrover safaris – photograph countryside geese and hares or go on a watery tideline adventure.
- The Owl Trail will lead you around Holt’s oldest and best hidden spots; just follow the 12 plaques around town.
- If you’re here in summer, July is festival time; in winter, seasonal markets and fairy lights add to Holt’s chocolate-box appeal.
