As soon as you walk through the door of this delicious cabin in the heart of Perthshire, stow your devices in the lock box. This is a perfect place to disconnect and recharge (though there is WiFi if you simply can’t!). Soot-coloured and sustainably built, the cabin blends brilliantly into the landscape of a stunning 2500-acre estate. Inside, the thoughtfully designed interiors feature a wealth of local craftsmanship, including handmade woollen blankets by a local sheep farm and beautiful crockery by a local artisan. There’s a kingsized bed with luxe linens and stunning views; there’s a charming kitchen for simple meals, and a spacious shower to refresh after days spent outdoors.

Because it’s the outdoor that truly makes this cabin special. Footpaths carve through the Sidlaw countryside from the doorstep; friendly cows roam nearby (this is a working farm). Pheasants scurry about the hedgerows; birds swoop overhead. And if hiking sounds like too much effort, simply enjoy the peace of your plant-fringed private deck with a book. The firepit is ready for sausage grilling, marshmallow toasting and moonlit drinks later on, and there are endless views over the fields towards the Sidlaw Hills from the clawfooted outdoor tub. A-aaand relax.

Getting here: you’ll need to drive.

“We wanted to build a sustainable, Scottish-made cabin where people could switch off and reconnect with nature. It was designed in Scotland, made in Scotland and built using homegrown Scottish timber. The majority of our interiors and finishes are from local suppliers or from sustainable companies.” Owner, Alice

My Kip favourites

She loves
“Soaking in the tub at sunset, watching the landscape turn a glowing gold.”

We love
The beautiful toiletries from MODM and Arran, and the Himalayan bath salts for the outside tub (plus robes); we’re suckers for a pampering.

You may not love
There’s another holiday cottage next door, but the cabin is totally separate and private. Proximity to farmyard (200m), which houses cows in the winter. You’ll need a car to get around (no shops or pubs in walking distance). Sorry, no children or pets.

  • “Wow! This cabin is the definition of a relaxing weekend getaway. The interiors and attention to detail did not go unnoticed – especially the local suppliers and outdoor bath and firepit. Slow mornings in the countryside don’t get much better than coffee in bed and a warm cabin overlooking the autumnal fields. We can’t wait to be back!”

Sustainability.

Entirely Scottish-made (designed in Edinburgh, built in Inverness and created from Sitka Spruce, homegrown in the Scottish Highlands). Raw timber transformed into high-performance cross-laminated timber (CLT) creating a highly insulated, sustainable structure. Locally and sustainably sourced interiors.
