“Tired, neglected and unused: when the parish council put the local church up for purchase, as residents, we jumped at the chance to breathe new life into the building. After 2 years of careful planning and a year of conservation, renovation and innovation, we’re finally there with our totally unique holiday home.” Owners, Geoff & Julie
They love
“Sitting on the south-facing patio with a glass of wine, listening to the sheep baa and birds sing as the sun goes down.”
We love
The high vaulted ceilings and vibrant stained-glass windows.

Sustainability.
Walls are plastered with insulating lime plaster, which contains 50% cork. Bespoke secondary glazing eliminates drafts and reduces heat loss. Roof insulation installed by creating false ceilings that retain the appearance of the originals. All modern cement-based materials removed and replaced with traditional lime which allows the building to breathe. Underfloor heating provides the most efficient way to heating the space, supplemented by a modern efficient log burner. Electricity is provided by Ecotricity, Britain’s greenest energy supplier.
Surrounds.
- There are 2 brilliant farm shops within 10 minutes’ drive: Vegetable Matters in Ebrington, and Blockley Shop, where you can stock up on groceries or get breakfast and take-out coffee.
- Visit local towns: snap the medieval sights of Chipping Campden and sample the tearooms in picture-perfect Broadway.
- Set off on a refreshing romp in the Cotswolds hills – hop on the Cotswolds Way at Chipping Campden or explore the many OS routes from your door.
- After a long walk, Cotswolds pubs are a joy – honey-hued, wood-beamed and keeping each other on their gastro-tippy-toes. Our favourites are The Ebrington Arms, for low-ceiling, beamed tradition and the Bakers Arms for fine ale and pies.
- Blockley, Lower Slaughter and Snowshill are all gorgeous Cotswolds villages. If the latter looks familiar, it’s because it featured in Bridget Jones’ Diary.
- Stock up on cheese and charcuterie at Daylesford Organic; it also runs excellent cookery courses and floristry workshops.
- Dress smart for fine dining at Restaurant Henne in Moreton-in-Marsh, or Michelin fare at The Royal Oak in Whatcote.
- Nearby gardens include Kiftsgate Court, home to 3 generations of women gardeners, and Sezincote House, a Mogul Indian palace, complete with grottoes, temples and waterfalls.
