“I wanted to create a collection of beautifully made, low-impact places to pause – small spaces designed with the same care you’d give a home, but shaped entirely by nature. Each would have its own private sauna and cold-plunge experience built in, turning even a short stay into a retreat. We designed everything from scratch, from the soft interiors to the quiet, efficient off-grid systems. The idea was simple: no gimmicks, just a serene retreat where great design, privacy and the landscapes do the talking.” Owner, Tally
She loves
“The big open skies here, and the deep countryside quiet.”
We love
That it’s a tiny wellness escape. Hot tub, cold dip, sauna, robes and toiletries (just BYO face packs). The deck is ideal for yoga too, and mats, blocks and a yoga book are provided.
You may not love
Truly off-grid for electricity; no plug sockets just USBs. You need to be able to light and maintain the woodburner. No TV or microwave.
Sustainability.
The cabin is part of The Red Cabin collection – a series of design-led spaces owned and managed by The Red Cabin team in collaboration with hosts. Sustainability is woven into every stage of the cabins’ life cycles. They are manufactured in-house and the builds are BRE-audited from cradle to grave, ensuring environmental responsibility from material sourcing to end-of-life. Built with airtight construction and an impressive EPC rating of B, each cabin offers exceptional energy efficiency and thermal comfort year-round. British materials and recycled content are prioritised wherever possible – everything from insulation to upholstery. This thoughtful approach reduces a carbon footprint while creating beautiful, durable spaces that respect both nature and the communities around them.
Surrounds.
- Wake slowly with the sunrise pouring through the enormous window at the end of the bed, then pad straight to your private sauna for a quiet glow before the day even begins.
- Wander straight from the door into the ancient woodlands and parkland of the Blickling Estate. National Trust owned, it’s 4,600 acres overall with a lake and enormous formal gardens so you may not see another soul.
- Unless you want to explore the house, an impressive Jacobean mansion with an RAF Oulton Museum.
- Or visit the estate pub, which you can stroll to across the fields. Think low beams, good ales and generous plates.
- Or take part in the hugely popular park run every Saturday; the estate has a multipurpose track for cycling, running, dog walking and riding.
- Further afield, visit the microbrewery at Salle Moor Hall Farm, which has a 17thC taproom where you can taste their creations.
- Drive 20 minutes to the Norfolk coast for salt air, big horizons and invigorating walks. Our favourite spots are golden Cromer beach, Holt (a little town of great independents) and Blakeney Point (home to the UK’s largest sea colony).
- Return to the cabin to soak in your hot tub (or take the plunge into a cold dip, if you’re hardy), climb into your comfiest clothes and cook an easy meal.
- End the day by your fire pit, watching the stars slowly punctuate the sky. It’s utterly silent here, with no light pollution; very special.
