Sublime indoor/outdoor living for families and friends, in a pretty Norfolk village (sleeps 6)
Space & setting.
Part of an idyllic village just 15 mins from the coast, this is a brilliant launchpad for North Norfolk’s fashionable seaside towns and sandy beaches — and a dreamy space to return to each day. Originally a worker’s cottage on the Sandringham Estate, it was given an incredible makeover by its interior-designer owners, to seamlessly combine historical character with contemporary design. But what really sets it apart is its brilliant indoor-outdoor living. Start your day with an outdoor shower or luxurious alfresco bath to a backdrop of birdsong; finish it with a seafood feast cooked in the outdoor kitchen and glasses of wine by the outdoor logburner. Smaller visitors will love all the space, too; racing around the lawn on ride-on toys, and getting their hands dirty in their mini mud kitchen.
Inside, everything is exquisitely decorated — a sociable kitchen, double-aspect sitting room, and 3 lovely bedrooms, all chalky colours and natural textures. It’s a 2-min stroll to an excellent cafe for brunch or lunch, and longer walks wind across the gorgeous Sandringham Estate; keep your eyes peeled for pheasants, hares, deer and owls. Very special.
Getting here: drive, or train to Kings Lyn and taxi (20 mins)

“Jason and I met through work, creating and delivering very high-end interior design projects for wealthy clients. Years later, we came on holiday with our young family to Norfolk and fell in love with the area. We found and renovated a house for ourselves, and relocated at the start of 2020 just as the world locked down! We then set about looking for the perfect rental project. This house was built in the mid 1880s as a workers cottage on the Sandringham estate. It was an epic restoration that took over a year.” Owner Jolene
She loves
“How the cottage encourages a connection with nature – especially at golden hour, when the sun creates the most dramatics sunsets and pours through the front windows of the cottage.”
We love
The vintage dining bench and ancient beamed ceiling in the sitting room.
