Space & setting.

This Swedish-designed house-for-2 is impossibly romantic, hidden at the end of a private lane, with a garden gate leading straight onto the beach. Horses and a donkey are your nearest neighbours, grazing peacefully in the next-door field, and though it’s just a 2-minute stroll into historical Marazion village for pubs and restaurants, what’s right here will keep you captive. A vast deck that’s ideal for morning coffees, alfresco dinners and everything in between (Aperol spritzes at sunset recommended); a generous, open-plan living space that’s flooded with that elusive light from the sea. Throughout, calming pale hues, timeless antiques and contemporary accents are beautifully combined but it’s the roll-top bath you’ll always remember, strikingly placed to gaze over at St. Michael’s Mount, where pilgrims once trod.

Spend halcyon days exploring hidden coves and walking stretches of the SW Coastal Path, fuelled by picnic supplies from the nearby shop. Take morning swims, and day trip to Newlyn, Mousehole, and idyllic Portcurno (book ahead to catch a show at the world-famous Minack theatre; unforgettable).  This is a super-special corner of Cornwall, and its subtropical climate bathes the sky in a riot of colour every evening.

Getting here: train to Penzance, then taxi (15 mins)

“I came down to Marazion on holiday 10 years ago, fell in love and bought a property all on the same weekend!” Owner, Linda

My Kip favourites

She loves
“Sitting by the log fire in winter listening to the waves crashing by the cliffs, and dining alfresco in summer to watch the ever-changing colour of the sea from sunrise to sunset.”

We love
Nothing can beat the view, but the interiors come close – artwork and pottery from local Perranuthnoe Art Gallery are paired with tassel lamps, linen throws and perfectly worn wood to add warmth to the washed-out-in-white vibe.

  • "The setting was lovely and the views were magical ! The furnishings and vibe was perfect for what we wanted and never got tired on the view of St Michael’s mount. The binoculars were a cute touch and were used everyday! The outside space was very relaxing listening to the waves breaking with birds chirping . Very peaceful and perfect for my morning coffee."

  • "A fairytale property. I adored every little detail; the owner has thought of everything. The decor was like stepping onto cloud 9 & having a bath facing the sea & St Michaels Mount was so romantic. The kitchen had everything and more & the outdoor area with patio & garden with that view we couldn’t get enough of. The log burner was perfect at night. Only a short stroll to the pretty village & we loved the private gate down to the two different beaches, and you had the outdoor shower on a hot day watching the horses & donkeys on the field over the sea. This is a place to return to."

Surrounds.

  • Marazion, Cornwall
    Marazion
  • Marazion beach just below the house is a beautiful mile-long stretch of golden sand, that’s particularly lovely for sunrise swims. Mounts Bay beach is a 10-min walk further, backed by dunes. Hire canoes and paddleboards on the beachfront, or go windsurfing and sailing from the harbour.
  • Book a slot to explore iconic St Michael’s Mount, an ancient castle that rises majestically from the sea, just a short walk across the causeway at low tide.
  • Stroll through the old streets of Marazion, lined with independents and great cafes, pubs and restaurants.
  • Walk along the coastal path to the village of Perranuthnoe, where rugged cliffs give way to pristine beaches. Stop for lunch at the award-winning Victoria Inn, which has far-reaching sea views, or breakfast in the Peppercorn Cafe.
  • We love the vibrant fishing port of Newlyn, known for its thriving arts scene and creative-cool vibe. Soak up the artistic spirit at one of many galleries before seafood feasts at The Tolcarne Inn, Mackerel Sky or Argoe.
  • Day trip to picture-perfect village Mousehole, often hailed as the prettiest village in Cornwall. Wander the narrow, winding streets lined with fishermen’s cottages, and eat outstanding food at The Harbour Deli or No 2 Fore Street. The Old Coastguard is great for a drink.
  • For a truly unforgettable experience, book tickets to an opera or theatre performance at the world-famous Minack Theatre in Porthcurno. Carved into the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic, this open-air theatre is incredible in every way.
  • Ride horses along Porthcurno’s white sands and into its crystal-clear waters – a magical way to explore this coastline.
