“We moved down here from southwest London for a lifestyle change. We’d always dreamed of moving to Cornwall after the kids had left home, but decided, why wait? House hunting 250 miles from home was a very, very laborious process, but after a few false starts we found our old dairy farm. Adam continued to commute to London 2 days a week, and I moved my wedding-cake business into a spare stable, and we set about converting the farm into our home and holiday cottages! Busy times…” Owner, Andi.
She loves
“The wildlife here: you can watching buzzards and sparrowhawks hover as the sun sets over the tin mine, listen to owls as you stargaze from the hot tub, and spot deer in our fields at dawn.”
We love
The cool lighting, including a sunshine-yellow pendant light and trio of wicker shades in The Barn.

Sustainability.
Keen advocates of sustainable tourism. The cottages all have air-source pumps, which draw heat from the air for hot water and underfloor heating. The site has its own borehole for water (treated by UV without chemicals) and you’ll find a reusable steel bottle in your welcome hamper to cut down on the purchase of single-use plastics. The welcome hampers are also full of local produce, all waste is recycled, trees are continually being planted on-site and there’s an EV charger.
Surrounds.
- Walk across the fields to the excellent Seven Stars Inn in Stithians (30 mins’ walk)
- Gwithian is everything you could want from a local beach – 9 miles of sand stretching from Godrevy lighthouse to Hayle. Hire surf- and bodyboards here, or go for a blustery walk around the rockpools at low tide, followed by coffee at Godrevy Cafe.
- A 30-min drive will take you to Helford River, a stunning estuary renowned for its marine life (including wild dolphins, if you’re lucky). The best way to explore the 50-mile shoreline? By kayak. You’re spoilt for choice with pubs for lunch along the way, or pack a picnic to eat in the National Trust gardens at Glendurgan.
- The Bissoe coast-to-coast cycle trail was once a mineral tramway for the copper mines, meaning it’s flat and easy to follow. Hire bikes for the 11-mile pathway, which starts in Portreath Harbour and finishes in the picturesque village of Devoran.
- Get up super early to watch the sun rise over Gylly Beach, braving a sea swim while you’re there. Warm up afterwards with a Full Cornish breakfast at the cafe.
