Tucked within 900 acres of Highland wilderness, this estate offers a gentler way of living, in tune with nature. Mornings can start with river dips or a walk through peaceful woods; afternoons are for good books, picnics in the glorious Walled Garden, and watching red squirrels and soaring osprey go about their daily business. You’ll breathe deeply and your busy mind can slow. Ideal for friends or families, this restored cottage has 2 double bedrooms plus a bunk for a wee one. Out back, a lovely garden with a hot tub, firepit, pizza oven and BBQ; stargazing here is epic, and the Northern Lights make regular appearances.

This is the heart of Scotland’s castle country so historic ruins and fairytale fortresses are just a short drive away. Head for the coast to take a wildlife cruise along the Moray Firth and spot dolphins, puffins and dramatic clifftops, or go paddleboarding in historic harbours and kayaking in the open sea. Whisky lovers can tour nearby distilleries – or even visit a traditional cooperage to see the ancient art of barrel-making firsthand. And don’t miss the chance to meet the estate’s own fold of Highland Coos – gentle, shaggy charmers who steal every guest’s heart.

“The estate sits on land inhabited since the Stone Age, once home to one of the UK’s largest stone circles and the sacred May Day festival. Over centuries it evolved to the elegant 18thC Mayen House, birthplace of renowned astronomer James Ferguson. Today, its history, modern additions and star-filled skies offer guests a rare blend of heritage, beauty, and celestial charm.” Host, Ross

  • "An absolutely glorious place to stay. We visited for our minimoon with our 22 month old baby and had the most peaceful and relaxing stay. The wood-fired tub was amazing, especially in the rain. The bed was cosy and comfortable, the whole cottage felt homely, and we instantly felt relaxed and at ease. The gardens on the estate are spectacular and we loved walking around, exploring and letting our little one jump in puddles. We will definitely visit again."

  • "Butler's exudes taste and craftsmanship. Private, with fragrant roses around the door, it also has a firepit, pizza oven, and amazing wood-fired hot tub! The black-out blinds meant that my young grandchildren slept soundly. The walled garden is an absolute assault on the senses - stunning in every way and a fantastic source of inspiration. Unforgettable."

  • "A cosy, quiet place, perfect for a relaxing few days. The accommodation is beautiful but what really sells this place is the people that are running it, a truly special feeling that is irreplaceable."
