*Brand new*

Built in a natural clearing so as not to disturb the ancient woodland habitat, this Grand Designs-esque treetop retreat slots quietly into place in leafy Llanfyllin. From its hillside perch, the cabin looks out across rolling farmland, where lambs play in spring and a sparkling frost covers the fields in winter. But it’s the inside that really blows you away – as incredible as you’d expect from an interior designer owner. In the open-plan living-dining area, a hearth of dark glossy tiles and a matte monochrome kitchen sets off soft greys, cool whites and tactile fabrics – all bathed in dappled light filtering in through the trees and huge windows.

Bedside canopy views ease you into the day here, followed by a morning coffee on the balcony – keep your eyes on the sky to spot woodpeckers, red kites and buzzards. Linger over breakfast, then set out across the fields or venture further to explore the beautiful lakes, waterfalls and mountains of Powys and Snowdonia. As evening rolls into dusk, walk into town for dinner or stay put to watch the changing light dance across the landscape from the sunken bath. Magical.

Getting here: drive, or train to Welshpool then taxi (20 mins)

“We’re originally from the local area, and after living away in London and Berlin we decided to renovate a property here in our home country. We had done up a few places in London previously but wanted a bigger challenge. After renovating our own house, we wanted to create a unique luxury retreat to share with others, a comfortable place with beautiful interiors where guests could come to stay year-round. And so, this cabin was born!” Owners, Amy and Bryn

My Kip favourites

They love
“Sitting on the balcony in the mornings and listening to birdsong.”

We love
The handmade details – the cushions were made by a friend of the owners, and vases are by London designers.

A 3, 4 or 7-night min stay (see Specifics). Limited taxi service locally. Sorry, no children.

  • Thank you for the most magical stay. We feel better than we have in ages - we're sure the hot tub, views and peace and quiet have been the tonic we needed. We can't wait to return to our new happy place

  • Simply super in every way. We've had the most perfect 'escape the city' Welsh retreat and fell in love with Oak View Cabin and the wild woodland the moment we arrived. Thank you Bryn & Amy for sharing your amazing place and all your help and friendliness during our stay. We absolutely hope to be back for more hot tub time, stargazing and wine

    Debbie & Claire, March 2023
  • Thank you Amy & Bryn for a wonderful stay! You've created such a beautiful and tranquil space. We have really been able to switch off and relax. The views are second to none and the interiors are right up our street! Just stunning! We also witnessed a few baby lambs being born, so special. Our little miniature dachshund, Winne, settled right at home and kept look out on the sheep throughout the day!

Stephanie, Khloe & Winnie, April 2023

Water is from a bore hole. All the timber materials were sourced and milled within 5 miles of the property. Plans are in place to have solar power.
