A stunning farmhouse with peaceful grounds, near glorious N Cornwall beaches (sleeping 8)
Space & setting.
Everything about this colourful farmhouse invites you to make the most of Cornwall and Devon’s dreamy outdoors. One of the half-Australian owners missed the beach-and-barbecue lifestyle from Down Under, so sought to connect to it from here with a gorgeous indoor/outdoor feel plus a huge BBQ and pizza oven on the terrace, which is perfectly angled for sunsets. Despite 16thC stone walls and an original inglenook fireplace, bucolic bolthole this is not: both owners formerly worked in design in London, and wanted to bring a bit of the capital’s cool to this rural spot – achieved through their impeccable taste in textiles, art and furniture (often sourced from local antique dealers such as Bristol’s Cart House).
Perfect for big families with teens, or 2 families holidaying together, there are 4 bedrooms upstairs and 3 huge reception rooms to spill out over. If there are more of you why not take over all 3 of the farm’s properties, to sleep 21 in total, making it the perfect place to pile in family, friends and plus-ones? Creative guests will appreciate the attention to craftsmanship (by award-winning architects Feilden Fowles), whilst Cornwall regulars will fall in love with the area all over again; classicists won’t be able to resist the roll-top tub, and contemporary cooks will want to spend all their time in the enormous and sociable kitchen/diner. There’s even a football pitch for kickabouts.

Surrounds.
- Bude is surf heaven. Hire kit and book lessons if you’re a beginner; the owners’ kids are both coaches at Big Blue Surf School. Or simply swim, paddle and float in Bude’s natural sea pool.
- There’s also a brilliant restaurant in Boscastle called The Rocket Store. It’s great to go for a morning swim in the harbour then get brunch there.
- Walk or run stretches of the South West Coastal Path, awash with stunning seascapes.
- Trebarwith Strand is incredibly beautiful at low tide.
- We love rockpooling at Northcott Mouth Beach, and admiring the rock formations at Crackington Haven. There’s a great pub at Crackington where you can sit on the wall and watch the sun go down.
- Pretty Port Isaac and Padstow are easy day trips — you can cycle to the latter along the Camel Trail and reward yourself with fish and chips by Rick Stein for lunch.
- Or visit lovely Clovelly, with its steep cobbled hills and famous donkeys, then have a long lunch at The Farmers Arms on the way back.
