“We discovered Redford almost by accident in 2009. Living and working in Bristol, we’d been looking for a new adventure and somewhere we could raise our young family in the countryside, while creating a small hospitality business alongside it. It’s hard to believe it now, but we spent 2 years living in a static caravan and restoring the farmhouse before we could finally move in. The barns came next – a slow project to preserve their agricultural character while turning them into places for guests to stay. Now, after 15 years and bringing up our daughters here, we’re moving off the farm and adding our much-loved farmhouse to the rental mix too. It means guests can experience more of Redford than ever, allowing bigger celebrations and events on site. For us, that’s really the point: this is somewhere for families and friends to gather, roam and make their own memories, in a place that holds so many of ours.” Owners Jude and Rupert
They love
“The sense of history in the farmhouse. After 450 years, you can still see its beginnings: old beams, mullion windows, an original bread oven and an enormous inglenook fireplace . We’ve always loved the feeling that we’re just one chapter in its story.”
We love
The vintage details: reclaimed chapel pew seating, apple crates as bedside tables, old milk churns repurposed as bar stools and Framed Enid Blyton book plates.

No Saturday check-ins/outs. The wellness area is given to The Barns guests as a priority above Farmhouse guests due to its location. The field is a shared space with other guests on site if you don’t book the whole farm. The Huts aren’t available Nov-Feb
Surrounds.
- Go hungry to Ludlow, just 8 miles away. It has an incredible concentration of good food, independent shops and handsome old buildings. Market days are particularly good for a potter.
- Harry’s Restaurant at Castle Lodge is our top tip for a special meal out. Exceptional fine dining and cocktails in a Tudor dining room (once home to Catherine of Aragon, the first wife of King Henry VIII).
- Whitcliffe Common Nature Reserve rises above the River Teme with fabulous views back across Ludlow to the Clee Hills; drop down afterwards for lunch beside the river at CSONS, where the menu follows whatever local growers and producers have that day.
- For a proper country pub, Bennetts End Inn in nearby Knowbury dates back to 1640. There are also 2 pubs reachable from Redford on foot across fields and country lanes – ask Jude for the route.
- For picnic supplies, raid Ludlow’s delis and market stalls – then add cakes from one of its excellent bakeries. If you’d rather someone else sorted lunch, The Blue Boar is a sensitively restored old pub moments from the castle, while Charlton Arms Hotel sits right beside the Teme and is a good shout for a long lunch.
- Mortimer Forest‘s thousand hectares are threaded with walking, cycling and bridleway trails. If you’re lucky you might spot the resident long-haired fallow deer.
- The River Teme has wild-swimming spots around Ludlow; combine a dip near Dinham Weir with a wander along the river afterwards.
- Friday night = pizza night. Just 3 miles away, Commonwood Farm runs summer pizza and live-music nights on their farm. They also make their own award-winning perry, cider and other orchard drinks, which you can stock up on while you’re there!
- Save a half-day for Ludlow Castle. It’s one of England’s finest medieval ruins and sits slap-bang in the middle of town, so history can segue very easily into coffee, antiques and lunch. For a bigger expedition, Stokesay Castle, Berrington Hall and the extraordinary ruins of Witley Court are all within striking distance.

Yes, all of the accommodation is dog friendly. You can bring 2 dogs to Tenbury Cottage; 3 dogs in Ludlow Barn and 2 dogs in the Farmhouse. Also, if you rent the Huts as an extra, they can fit a dog too. Dogs stay free of charge but must be kept off furniture and out of bedrooms. Please bring bowls, beds etc.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring an airbed for 1 extra child. There’s also the option for 1 additional futon/mattress.
Any day except a Saturday, with a 2-night minimum stay.
Unfortunately not.
There is a main cluster of buildings. The Barns are here, and are semi detached. The Farmhouse is standalone, a short distance from the barns. The add-on Huts are in the meadow, though this is a social site and other guests can stroll / walk their dogs through the meadow, plus there’s a zipline in it that’s popular with kids in school holidays, so they are not completely secluded. The quietest time to stay is outside school holidays. See the whole-site photo in the Gallery.
Yes, the Stable Bar can be booked by any party. It’s an additional £35 for 1 day/night, £50 for 2 days/nights. 11.30pm curfew. Please send an enquiry to check availability if this is of interest for your stay.
Guests in Ludlow Barn have first dibs on booking the Wellness Area, due to its location. If they don’t want it exclusively for their whole stay, it is bookable by other guests (£75 for 2 days’ use). Please send an enquiry to check availability if this is of interest for your stay.
The trio of shepherd huts are an extra living/sleeping space for 2 adults + 2 children (or teens), bookable when you book one of the other Redford accommodations for £250/whole stay.
Set in the meadow, one is for sleeping with king bed & woodburner; one is for living with kitchen, dining space & wood-fired oven, plus bench seating which can convert to 2 kids’ beds. The final hut has a shower and loo.
There’s also a Swedish Hikki wood-fired hot tub and large Kadai fire bowl. 1 dog welcome.
Please send an enquiry to check availability if this is of interest for your stay.
Note that if temperatures dip below freezing, the hot water/toilet pipes have to be turned off so ablutions would need to be done in your other Redford accommodation, though the sleeping hut can still be heated via its woodburner. They are only bookable March-Oct to try and avoid this!
Yes, within 8 weeks of a stay, the owners are happy to rent the accommodations using less bedrooms for a reduced rate – eg, the Farmhouse for 6 people rather than 10. Please send an enquiry if this is of interest.
The team at Evatt & Bullock Co can cater everything from hearty welcome suppers to luxury private dining experiences, using seasonal produce and local suppliers.
