“I designed and built Swallows Nest myself here at our family home, with sustainability shaping many of my design choices. It is made from timber modules that can be separated and transported by lorry, so one day it could move somewhere new without leaving a permanent imprint on the land. I used natural materials and cedar shingles that will gradually weather into the landscape, and created a natural swimming pond that doubles as a thriving habitat for birds, insects and other wildlife. During the build, swallows decided to nest inside the cabin and this inspired its name.” Owner, Fin

- Chalice Well is a peaceful garden tucked beneath the Tor – one of Glastonbury’s loveliest spots.
- Spend a few hours in Glastonbury (3 miles away), exploring its brilliantly eccentric independent shops and cafés. Fin recommends The Queen of Cups for lunch or dinner, delicious Middle Eastern flavours and seasonal produce.
- The ruins of Glastonbury Abbey are well worth a visit.
- We love the Avalon Marshes at Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath – a patchwork of reedbeds, lakes and wetlands for walking and birdwatching.
- Come in winter for huge starling murmurations over the Somerset Levels at dawn and dusk, one of the UK’s great natural spectacles.
- The Red Lion does a brilliant Sunday roast.
- Day trip to Frome (amazing independents and a weekly market), Bruton (Hasuer + Wirth gallery and the most beautiful high street), Wells (a stunning cathedral) or Bath (Georgian architecture and the Roman baths).

Cancellations permitted 8+ weeks prior to stay, with deposit refunded minus a £40 processing fee.

Yes, the cabin is fully insulated and as of early October will be heated with a woodburner.
Sorry, no pets is a deliberate choice to maintain the peace.
No – there is a hot alfresco shower and a compost loo, both in mini cabins near the cabin.
The cabin and its deck are private, and tucked away from the main site. During the summer season (May-Sept), there may also be guests staying in the 2 yurts and sharing the swimming pond and sauna. Outside of summer season you’ll have the whole site to yourselves.
It’s a natural wild-swimming pool, untreated, and a lovely place to swim (note, this is at your own risk).
It’s a wood-fired sauna that guests light and operate themselves, for an additional £20/hour. It takes about an hour to heat up, so the ideal is light fire, have a cuppa, have a swim, then run in!
Glastonbury town centre is 3 miles away, with Glastonbury Tor visible from the surrounding countryside. There are also plenty of walks and places to explore directly from the site.
