“Ty Coch has a long history of welcome: sitting on the original pilgrims’ route to Bardsey Island, it has hosted generations — from scout camps to families who return every summer. We bought it in 2007, wanting to continue the tradition. When our children were young, we struggled to find a place to stay with friends and family that was just right — not too posh, not too basic — so we set out to create the space we’d always wanted: room to breathe, cook, laugh, and gather around the fire.
It needed a huge amount of work, and this is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we were determined to restore it sensitively and sustainably. Over 18 years, we’ve transformed the land into a haven for wildlife, planted hundreds of native trees and plants, restored a coastal wetland, and run regular beach cleans. We hope guests love it and feel at home, as much as we do.” Owners Julie and Miles

Sustainability.
“We’ve been carbon neutral since 2009; each building has a ground-source heat pump for heating and hot water, and we use Green Electricity from Octopus. All of our products are eco-friendly – Faith in Nature, Bio-D, Who Gives a Crap – and we source everything else as locally as possible. Gwen in the village bakes our cakes, the eggs are from Gwen’s daughter’s hens. The bread is baked locally and the coffee’s roasted at Poblado Coffee in Nantlle. We have an EV charger on site so guests can recharge at cost.
