Stunning 2-bedroom house leading onto the golden sands of Gwithian and Godrevy
Space & setting.
Backing straight onto the sand dunes of Upton Towans Nature Reserve, this beautifully refurbished bungalow is perfect for a couple or small families. See past the old-fashioned exterior because inside it’s pure style – a crisp, sun-soaked space with whitewashed walls and floorboards providing a calm backdrop to an eclectic mix of mid-century and modern furnishings. Seagrass rugs and baskets dot the floors while an Ercol dining table offsets the chic kitchen.
The peaceful sunny garden leads straight onto a picturesque warren of sand dunes and down to 3 miles of golden beach, a mecca for surfers, windsurfers, beachgoers and walkers. There are rock pools at Gwithian on the north end, and you’ll recognise stunning Godrevy headland from postcards, punctuated by a lighthouse. The dunes themselves are a playground for kids and adults alike, perfect for runs and walks, sunset barbecues and picnics. Tucked away from the crowds, this area never feels too busy and that’s its real magic.

Surrounds.
- Book a surf lesson at Gwithian, the north section of the beach. Refuel at The Red River Inn, which has a really lovely beer garden with views of the church spire and sand dunes beyond.
- Walk along the sand to National Trust-managed Godrevy beach, where you can do a simple loop of the headland taking in the lighthouse, stunning views along the dramatic coastline, and a seal colony in one of the coves far below.
- Take a BBQ or picnic into the sand dunes and watch the sun set.
- Catch the train to St Ives for shops, galleries and restaurants without the hassle of parking and traffic. We love Barbara Hepworth’s studio and the Tate is great on a rainy day.
- Gwynver Beach is breathtaking; an uncrowded cove with turquoise waters that’s well worth the steep climb down. (Top tip: buy a jar of Sarah and Finn’s scrummy relish when you pay at the cliff-top car park.)
- Drive along the B3306 to Sennen. It’s a winding, car-advert kind of road with dramatic views of moorland and sea. Stop for a meal or a drink at the fabulous, canary-yellow Gurnard’s Head.
