Gloriously secluded.

In these uncertain times, what we’re really craving post-lockdown is a hideaway in the middle of nowhere. No neighbours, no need for 2-metre rules. Just you and your travel companion(s), in an area of stunning wild beauty. Here’s where you’ll find just that.

Wildflower Wagon Hereford

Brand new to Kip, a stay in The Edwardian Showman’s Wagon is like a time-travel experience, taking you back to the 1920s and a circus showman’s life. There are period lamps and elegant woodwork inscriptions but thankfully mod cons have been added too, including a gorgeous tadelakt shower room. The wagon sits in its own field, with magnificent views of the Black Mountains and countryside walks leading from the front door. Dog-friendly, too.
From £75-95/night. Sleeps 2.

Starry Skies, Northumberland

Also new to us are these superbly romantic shepherd’s huts in Northumberland’s Dark Sky Park. Soak in the alfresco bath by day, enjoying killer views of the Cheviot Hills and the odd black-nosed sheep. Or hop in after dark, ideally with candles and a bottle of fizz, and recline under shooting stars and Orion’s Belt (pretty sure that’s a thing).
From £95-140/night. Each sleeps 2.

Loch Rusky glamping

This is the view we want to wake up to. And to accompany our every alfresco meal. A vast Scottish Highlands setting, with 160 idyllic acres and just 2 off-grid glamping pods. Breathtaking walks lead out from the front door, and you can wild swim or boat on the lake, catching rainbow trout to BBQ for your dinner. Utterly remote and romantic, and brand new so there’s loads of availability.
From £135-145/night. Each sleeps 2.

Secret Cornish Den

The views are what first stole our heart, but then we saw the gorgeously eclectic interiors of this little cabin, set in its own wildflower meadow in the centre of Cornwall. There are vintage signs, copper plumbing pipes used as curtain rails, packing crates repurposed into drawers. And the vibrant orange and yellow palette is simply cheering to the eye; good-time vibes galore.
From £100-130/night. Sleeps 2-4.

Suffolk Shepherd Hut

And finally, this utterly charming shepherd’s hut in Suffolk, which hides in a fruit orchard in the Deben Valley. You’re unlikely to see another soul when you go walking or biking, unless you stroll to one of 2 village pubs (hopefully reopening soon!). It’s festooned with fairy lights for after dark, there’s a fire pit to roast marshmallows over, and you’ll fall asleep to the sound of owls hooting. A total disconnect from the world.
From £75-95/night. Sleeps 2.
